In most cases, we recommend waiting about 3 months after a tooth extraction before proceeding with dentures. This allows the bone and surrounding gum tissues to heal and stabilise, resulting in a better fit and more comfortable denture. In certain situations, temporary or immediate dentures may be provided earlier. Your dentist will advise you on the most suitable timeline based on your individual condition.

Dentures typically last 3–8 years, although this can vary from person to person. Their lifespan depends on several factors, including the condition of your remaining teeth and gums, your chewing habits and bite forces, as well as how well the dentures are cared for. Over time, changes in your gum and bone structure may also affect the fit, and adjustments or replacement may be needed. If a denture is accidentally dropped or damaged (for example, by biting on something too hard), it may be possible to repair it — our dentist will be able to advise you accordingly.
